Artificial grass tips for pets

Artificial grass is very popular for pets, and we recommend it a lot. However, we get a few common questions regarding pets and artificial grass (mainly dogs). In this post, we are going to look over our most frequently asked questions regarding artificial grass for pets.

Is artificial grass safe for pets?

As we mentioned above, it is very popular and we do vouch for it when it comes to pets. So in short, yes artificial grass is perfect for your furry friend. All of our grasses are non-toxic and conform to all UK regulations. At Artificial Grass Central, we love animals, and we would never want to harm them in any way, hence 100% pet-safe products.

Please be aware that some pets can have allergies to certain things, please ensure that your pet doesn't have any allergies to any of the materials used in the artificial grass.

Should I use a shock pad if I have pets?

Shock pad makes the ground safer in schools and around children's play equipment. It is a very useful product for safety, and preventing injury. However, adding pets into the mix is a 100% no to shock pad. The rubber or foam shock pad will absorb a dog's urine, making it smell bad very quickly. Nobody wants a garden that smells of dog wee all the time.

Saves the patchiness on your lawn

When you have pets, they often leave your garden patchy. Whether they like to play or do their business in the same spot, pets will ruin natural grass over time. Artificial grass for your garden will help keep it looking perfect all year round. And even if your dog does play the same sport, it won't matter, as the grass will not go patchy due to discolouration or overuse due to its spring-back technology.

Benefits for small pets

It's tough sometimes to keep your lawn neat and trimmed. This means if you have a small pet, whether it be a dog cat or rabbit. It may be a bit intimidating and off-putting for them to play or do their business in an overgrown lawn. But life can be busy and it's not always true that we can keep on top of the mowing, especially with how quick it grows throughout the summer.

However, artificial grass doesn't grow and requires very little maintenance (it may seem obvious, but people have mowed it before). So if you have a small pet, artificial grass can have a hugely positive impact on their little lives.

The best choice for grass

We have made finding pet grass super simple with Pets 25 and 30. However, these are due to being more hardwearing and easier to clean, especially 25 if you have a really big dog or lots of them. All our grasses are 100% pet friendly, meaning if you have a grass you particularly like, for example, Natural 42, it is perfectly safe to use that.

We have the 2 pet-specific ones for the aforementioned ease of cleaning; they are adamant and hardwearing. If your pet is small, tougher grass is not necessarily needed. So simply put, order a set of samples based on photos you like the look of, then go from there choosing the one you most like the look of and that best suits your garden's aesthetic.

No more mud or mess

It's a pain, especially in the winter when your pet needs to be outside but the garden is waterlogged or muddy. Even this can happen during the summer in the UK; we aren't blessed by the weather often. This makes us not want our pets to be outside as much as they need to be. Additionally, when they are allowed to be outside, they trail a mess back into the house.

This will no longer be an issue with artificial grass instead of natural turf. With no mud in sight of your garden, no longer will the weather be a factor in the amount of time your furry friends can spend outside. Now they can be outside as much as they want, with no stress of mud being brought into the house.
